With over 400 million native speakers in 79 countries, Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, both as a first and second language. If you learn Spanish you will be in good company whether you are in Spain, the USA or Latin America. Spanish is a Latin language and shares many of its words, roots and sentence structures with other Romance languages, such as Portuguese, French and Italian. There are also similarities between English words, such as those ending in ‘tion’ in English; these end in ‘ción’ in Spanish, for example, station = la estación. Spanish has masculine and feminine words and the verbs change depending on the person/people or item(s) being referred to.

If you wish to learn Spanish there are a number of ways to do so. One of the best ways is to attend classes at a language school, which can be found in towns and cities across Spain.
